contrary to the popular notion that happiness or peace come from accumulating things, body teaches it comes from renunciation.

My JW friend turned down the "privilege" of working the literature table at the park. Why?

she converted later in life and has been a jw for over 25 years.. she is in her late 70's and has had heart problems.

There always was a table set up in Port Authority bus terminal. They were stationed near the Glamour magazine stand. I saw them at tables in Union Station, DC, New York, and Philadelphia suburban and Amtrak station. I looked at the books and mags. They just chatted away with each other. The earth could explode and they would not notice. Finally, I realized they would never turn their heads to see me so I left. Maybe I had a more aggressive Witnessing style from exposure to NY. No one else gave them any notice. I will say this in their favor. Their grooming and clothing was impeccable. You could certainly tell the clothes weren't expensive but they were approriate.

I witnessed the reason the RCs and Witnesses have so many pedophiles. It was Christmas. Altho I am not RC, I decided to go to church with my younger sister. I was used to Jesuits in New York. Both my mom and myself kept waiting for the sermon to begin. The priest had incoherent thoughts. Certainly, Christmas and Easter is a time for sermon work. Just google one. He was preparing for communion when we realized we already heard the sermon . One middle aged female stood up and said, "yes, Father." There is no way I can articulate the groveling and deference that her voice contained. I became physically ill. No one should be worshipped. If I were a parishoner, I would gather a committee and demand sermon reform. Of all the church services of my life, it was the worst by far. Grown woman should act like grown women.
To be candid, I've had women friends talk to Episcopal priests the same way. Do anything to me. I am an infant. You are held to no standards.

The Sup Ct. decision was narrow. Everyone has long believed that the Ct. will not limit any future cases to the facts of this case. I vowed in high school to do anything to help defend an Amish student who wanted to finish high school. Too late for my mom and uncle.

Blondie is right on. Every medical fraud Witnesses loved. My bro has cerebral palsy so we were exposed to some dangerous quacks through Witnesses wanting to help. Even my mom was relying on JW mds. All two of them in the continental US. My mom lied to the md and forged my father's signature so we could get vaccinations. Everyone in the neighborhood went to the local elementary school to receive the Sabin polio virus. We were told not to touch the sugar cube, to just swallow the vaccine. I touched it inadvertnley. My teachers were so terrifying to them tht I refused to tell them. I became convinced that my father was going to get polio b/c of me. Oh, aluminum pans.

St. Paul was so insistent on agape meals and everyone's participation. What could go wrong at a picnic? Does watermelon have blood, too? My congregation was next to a nice park. Maybe they did have a picnic and decided not to invite me.
